Do you have this unexplained feeling of being watched or you just would like to take precautionary steps to ensure your privacy is fully respected? In this article we are going to look at how to sweep for bugs effectively at home. To begin, let's take a look at the:
The first thing to do is to do a physical sweep of the room or building, to do this:
· You know your home pretty well so you should look for things that seem out of place, no matter how little. Picture frames on the wall, flower stands, appliances you don't remember installing, etc., are things you should focus your attention on.
· Since most of these bugs need to be concealed, you should look inside light fixtures and fittings, flower vases and other places that can serve as a hide out.
· Look through your furniture like under the couches, shelves, and anything that look suspicious.
· Hardwired spy equipment tends to leave a trail of wire running through the room but concealed. Look for wires that do not seem to lead to anywhere important. They seem to just stand idly around.
Try to stay as silent as you can. Turn off any equipment or appliances in the room and just walk around quietly. Most of these spy equipment give off little sounds and clicks when in operation.
Many of these spy equipment have power indicator lights that tend to blink or stay on. Put off all source of light in the room and walk around and look for lights coming from suspicious areas in the room.
Spy cameras can also be placed behind a mirror and as such, with the lights still off, get torchlight. With this, you can easily examine the mirrors to see if they are see-through or actual mirrors as they seem.
Hidden cameras these days are designed to be small and easily buried in objects leaving just a tiny hole for the lens to see through. Still keeping the lights off in your room or house, get a small tube and place it on one of your eyes. With the torchlight in your hand, scan through the entire room and check to see if you would find any tiny light reflecting back at you. This light would be from the lens of the hidden camera.
There are several signal detectors that can be bought over the internet. A good example is the RF signal detector. They are designed small which makes them easy to carry around and use. Obviously this RF signal detector would not be able to detect all types of bugs but for a simple DIY bug sweep, it may be all you can get. When more advanced bugs are used, you would have to hire the services of a professional counter surveillance expert to bring in the right equipment.
You can also use your cell phone as a good signal detector. All you have to do is to call you phone and move it closer to the area you suspect the bug is located. If there is some clicking on the call, caused by the interference from the electromagnetic field, then a bug could be located in that place.
